Book Critiques by Creigh-ations: Big Little Lies

Big Little Lies is simply amazing! Liane Moriarty is a skilled, masterful writer intertwining three women’s lives all with a kindergartner in the same class. All you know is that someone dies at trivia night, and the book unfolds with many people’s opinions and descriptions of what happened leading up to that one night. It is a well thought out, very well written, suspenseful mystery!

This is one of those books that I fell asleep reading each night since I HAD to know what happened. I would do the chapter trick {always try to finish one chapter before I conked out for the night} and sadly on more than one occasion woke up with my book laying on my chest having lost my page from falling asleep trying to finish that chapter!

Liane Moriarty touches on a lot of different, controversial subjects in her mystery~ domestic violence, motherhood, bullying, keeping secrets, and so much more. This would be an excellent choice for a book club to discuss, but just know that the conversations may get a little heated {depending on your friends’ views!}

I finished Big Little Lies and all I could think was this could actually happen. I don’t want to give away a lot of the book because it is just THAT good, but it really could happen in Australia {the setting of the book} or really anywhere… is it sad that I thought this could go down in my very own neighborhood? I think it has something to do with the way she writes and how it all unfolds at the end. There are so many “OMG, did that just happen?!” moments. I know I’m not actually giving a great review because I just want you to read it for yourself and then let me know how it is! I wish there were more than 5 stars to give it on Goodreads!

Let me know if you’ve read it and your thoughts in the comments! {We may give some things away, so if you haven’t read it, don’t read the comments!}. Want to chat more books and other "mom" stuff?
